luminas

The Staff

Luminas employ extremely skilled developers who have the vision, foresight and ability to help us in delivering the kind of quality solutions our clients expect.

Luminas are always interested in hearing from individuals who feel they can play a part in improving the Internet. If you would like to work in a challenging and dynamic company utilising best-of-breed technologies to deliver first-class services, please get in touch.

Andrew Savory, Managing Director

Andrew has over 10 years experience in internet technologies and services, extensive knowledge of publishing, training, configuration and support, project management and quality control.

Andrew is responsible for the overall smooth running of the company, sourcing new customers, dealing with personnel and developing long-term company strategy with the help of the other directors.

Andrew spends his spare time buying worrying numbers of DVDs, playing pool and occasionally jogging or playing squash. He also reads voraciously. He can occasionally be found venting his internal monologue on his blog.

David Casal, Research Director

David joined Luminas in 2002, bringing extensive knowledge of artificial intelligence, semantic networks, and the ability to facilitate people's transition into Open Source practices without losing their hair.

Since then, his role has evolved to include that of spokesperson, evangelist, Director of Sales, and strategist.

David's other interests tend to focus on music (his undergraduate focus) and new compositional paradigms including improvisation using elements of computing. His PhD is on hold while he hunts for the perfect programming language with which to accurately represent 'Leggierissimo'.

Jeremy Quinn, Lead Developer

Jeremy joined Luminas in late 2003 as our Lead Developer.

Through academic and commercial research projects over the years, Jeremy has developed a wide experience of online content management, Java and XML technologies. He is a comitter to the Apache Cocoon project, where his primary interest is to help develop a remote content management infrastructure for it. He developed the FP and Crudlet Taglibs for Cocoon1 and Cocoon2.

Jeremy has lectured at Westminster University, designed web spaces and games for companies big and small since 1993, and designed furniture as a member of O2, an international network of designers.

When he isn't building Cocoon applications with us, he likes to dive deep into the Oceans using highly dangerous breathing equipment.

Thang To, Developer

Thang To is an extremely talented developer, currently researching MPEG7 applications for the digital libary domain. He joined us in 2004 while working on his PhD.
